Important Information about Weight Loss Injections (e.g. Mounjaro / Wegovy)

🚫 Weight Loss Injections Not Available at GP Practices
At Layton Medical Centre, we cannot prescribe weight loss medications like Mounjaro (tirzepatide) or Wegovy (semaglutide).
This is because:
We are not funded to provide these injections and the essential ongoing support they require (dietary, psychological, exercise, and medical monitoring).
NHS Lancashire & South Cumbria has instructed GPs not to prescribe these medications at this time.
Who is eligible?
Only patients referred to specialist NHS weight management services with: ✔️ BMI ≥ 40 (or 37.5 for some ethnicities)
✔️ At least 4 serious weight-related health conditions (e.g. type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, etc.)
📌 These medications carry risks and need specialist supervision.
Please do not contact your GP for weight loss jabs.
